OUR MISSION

Heights Emergency Food Center (HEFC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit food pantry that provides healthy food for people who meet USDA income limits. Completely staffed by volunteers, the center and all its personnel respect social and cultural diversity, and uphold the worth and dignity of those we serve.

FUNDING

HEFC is funded over 95% through federal grants. We receive monthly funds from the USDA and associated agencies to purchase the food we distribute. These funds must be spent at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, where we purchase food at government surplus prices, and obtain some free food.

We also receive HUD funding through a block grant administered by the city of Cleveland Heights These funds may be used only for our operating expenses such as rent, utilities, and supplies.
